WHO WE ARE
We are Jake & Ebby Dodge. We were married in 2021 after meeting in college at Dordt University. Jake is an engineer, and Ebby a Physician Assistant.
Outside of Roman's Room we love sports, traveling to new places together, going to the lake, and reading a good book. We are members at Valley Church in West Des Moines, and lead a life group with our friends.

HOW DID WE GET HERE?
We got pregnant in 2024 with our first son, Roman Delbert. We loved getting to know him, and interacting with him while Ebby was carrying him.
On May 19th 2025, we went into the hospital for decreased fetal movement, only to find he no longer had a heartbeat. Ebby was induced and delivered Roman on May 20th, 2025 at 12:52 pm. We find comfort in knowing that because of what Jesus did on the cross, we will get to spend eternity with our son.
We were able to have a beautiful service, surrounded by friends and family, and lay our son to rest on earth on May 31st.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
After delivering Roman, we were at a loss for what items we would need moving forward for postpartum care for Ebby. Unfortunately most of the needed items are commonly found in the baby aisle, which was sure to add to the emotional burden in an already horrible time. While we were unable to bring our son home, Ebby's body was still going through all of the physical changes that comes with delivering a child.
We were blessed to have friends and family support us by collecting items, bringing meals, and giving flowers, which helped ease the practical burden of the situation.
In the hospital, we had dreamt up a way to help other families who had suffered the same way we had, and determined that postpartum care packages would be our vessel. Friends and family donated money at Roman's funeral that kicked off the initial round of boxes.
